Just Like Being Out with (Very Knowledgeable) Friends on their Boat

A wonderful morning out on the boat with Greg, his partner Meriel, a friend and her dog! Greg let us pick the time and the place. We said we were open to whatever he thought was best so he said we’d go “Wherever the currents take us that day!”. Turns out that place was Harmony Falls, out past Jervis Inlet.

My friend and I are planners, typically, but today we were smart enough to just go with Greg and Meriel, the whole time telling us about the local animals and plants, about local Indigenous traditions and cultures, and pausing wherever they saw something that caught their eye.

We saw seals and eagles and herons! Both of our guides narrated to us about the animals’ habits and habitats as we went. Harmony falls was the halfway point of our two hour tour. So spectacular and peaceful. They served us homemade muffins and tea while we bobbed just out from beneath the falls. Lots of time to take pictures as Greg is also a photographer.

The ride back was a more direct affair as we were already almost over our time as we’d gotten lost in chatting, but it was also good time to contemplate the views.

To me, this tour was a steal! As Greg says they’ll happily customize to whatever is wanted, whether that’s hiking a waterfall or swimming off the boat. Do not miss this adventure if you’re out this way (the midnight bioluminescence tour is next on my list)!
